12-21-11 Jurassic Park is my Favorite Park!

If I could go back in time to any time period, I would obviously go back to the Mesozoic Era. In case no one recognizes this era, it is simply when dinosaurs roamed the earth. I think dinosaurs are so cool and interesting, so I would like to go back in time just to witness, first-hand, how they lived and survived for as long as they could. I've like dinosaurs for as long as I can remember. It all started with Barney. Barney is indeed a purple dinosaur. This lasted until I was at least four years old, and then I started watching the movie series, Jurassic Park. This is undoubtedly my favorite movie series of all time. I first saw Jurassic Park when I was maybe six years old. Unlike many six-year-olds of my time, I really enjoyed watching these intense dinosaur movies. My sister, Alli, didn't really like these movies, but my other sister, Andi, also enjoyed these films like I did. Anyways, these movies have helped me figure out what my favorite dinosaur is; Velociraptors. I don't know why I like them so much. Actually I do. It's because they're super fast, and they can pretty much get out of any situation. I believe they were more powerful than the T-Rex. Yeah, I said it! I understand that the T-Rex is very strong and I'm going to admit, he's pretty awesome, but the velociraptors are able to take down anything when they work together. Maybe that's why I like them so much, because of their teamwork...No...it's also because they're super intimidating. I mean, if you could stand in front of one of them, deal with their intense stare, and not start screaming, then you have no soul. I'm just saying, I've never done this, but it's got to be really scary. Despite all this jibber jabber, I think it'd be so cool to go back in time to the Mesozoic Era to hang with the dinosaurs.

12-13-11 Justin Patterson blog

How many people really know Justin Patterson? Well I got the chance to talk with him about different aspects of his life. Sure, everyone knows that Justin loves to play football for Alden High School, but the question here is why? Justin likes football because it's very fast paced and very fun to play and watch. He also enjoys the adrenaline rush he gets when he plays. Justin also plans on playing football in college. He's not sure what school he wants to attend, but he intends to go to a school for criminal justice. He eventually plans on becoming a State Trooper or Border Control in the future. There were many people that influenced him. He explained that his true hero is his father because he is able talk to him about most things. He also has many best friends that have been there for him throughout his life. These friends include Chase Huston, Eric Roth, Joe Foss, Ty, Cole, and Nate Berry. These are very important facts that many students are asked in their lives, but I decided to ask the questions people really want to know, like "If you could be an animal, what would you be?" or "What is your favorite color?" Justin's favorite color is blue by the way. To the animal question, Justin would want to be a hyena because they are really fast, crazy, and very "cute." Justin was also confronted with the "favorite subject" question. To this, he answered Social Studies 12 because he likes to know the current events that are going on all around the world. There are a lot of people that know Justin Patterson, which pretty much makes him a big deal. These random facts just show how friendly and interesting of a person Justin Patterson really is.

12-13-11 Chicken Wing Dip Deprived!

For this week's choice blog I would like to, as some in the office say, "bash" someone who has deceived the office members not once, but three times. Yes, I'm talking about Emily Cole who promised to bring in chicken wing dip and forgot three times in a row. How embarrassing. I wonder if she even has a soul. That was a little harsh, but everyone was thinking it. I'm kidding. Anyways, I just don't understand why she chooses to raise every one's hopes for chicken wing dip, then she just rips the hope in half, throws it to the ground, stomps on them, and spits on the remains. This is how I, personally, feel when she misleads the class. And this actually happened three times. I know, it's unbelievable. The first time, we were all naive to the fact that our hearts would soon shatter. When it actually did happen we were all pretty upset, but we were willing to give her a second chance. However, the moment we did, she turns around and completely blind sides us and "forgets" to bring in the chicken wing dip. Now the entire class is pretty irritated and saddened by the loss of another chance to have chicken wing dip. But she offers to bring chicken wing dip for a third time. Now, we originally said no because we couldn't take any more heartbreak, but then she began to beg and plead. I started to feel bad, so we gave her another chance to redeem herself. Unfortunately, she did not succeed in redeeming herself. She comes into class without chicken wing dip and claims that she texted me telling me she was unable to make the dip. So I check my phone to make sure, and I come across no texts from Emily Cole at all from the day before, or the morning of. This starts to anger me and then she continues to say that she texted me, when she definitely did not. So we decide to check her phone to see the record that she sent it and maybe the reason it didn't go through was because of phone problems. Then, conveniently, she says her phone is about to die. We checked the phone anyways and we come to find out that no messages were sent to me or anyone else in the news staff about the chicken wing dip. Wow Emily, wow. This was also a week before the Christmas, so she pretty much ruined Christmas for the office.
Keep in mind, this blog was a joke. Emily Cole, I'm totally kidding!!

12-7-11 The Coolest People I Know!

I would have to say that Kathleen Herter would be the number one coolest person I've met. We both love the T.V. show Glee and we both think about life if it was like Glee. For example, in the middle of lunch, people would break out in song. It would probably be the coolest lunch those kids have ever seen. She also just told me probably the funniest story ever about her day at Darien Lake. A person cut her and she started to trip on the back of their shoes and started falling. There were young children around so she quickly chose not to use inappropriate language. Instead, she used the phrase "Oh Chicago!" This was funnier when she told it in person I realize, but that's not the point. The next two coolest people I would have to say are Laura Slojkowski and Madeline Koelbl. We're getting t-shirts with the name "Madelaurber" which is all of our names put together. That's kind of awesome. We are also in each other's classes every day and we have the best conversations. Another super cool person I know is Tara Hammershmidt. We just went to warm up some taco dip for the best class ever, Online Publishing, and we had the best time. We started out by microwaving the taco dip for 5 minutes, and then we decided to sit on the couch in the teachers' lounge and turn on the television. A football game was being replayed and discussed, so Tara and I began stating the differences of the commentators. We also got shocked about thirty times in a matter of ten minutes. It was pretty rough, but completely worth it! Well, that is just a brief list of some of the coolest people I know. There is a lot more people, but this would be a 2000 word blog if I did!

12-1-11 The Class of Physcal Education!

My Physical Education class is probably the most awesome group of people in the entire school. I say this because it is stacked with the most athletic and industrious group of kids in this school. There are a few people that don't try that hard, but they or forget their clothes so they don't even participate. My class is full kids who are very good in the sport they play for school or out of school, and are also really good at every sport we play in P.E. These types of students are called "15 out of 15's" according to Mr. Helmicki. I've also heard Mr. Helmicki talk about our class and how great the students are and how it's probably the best class he's had so far in his teaching career. That's, dare I say, a pretty big deal. So my class has been playing volleyball for the past couple of days and it has been so much fun because my class, being as athletic as it is, actually plays to the actual rules of volleyball. Usually if one player hits the net, the teacher wouldn't say anything, but the rules actually do matter in my class. I love it because then, people who think they're so awesome at volleyball in p.e. get taken down a few notches and realize that there are legitimate rules that everyone has to follow. I think its a lot harder to break rules that you know rather than break the rules you don't know. For example, I think it's super hard to break the rules when I personally play volleyball because I've been playing since I was in fifth grade and I was brought up with my entire family being big in volleyball and I've been following these rules for a good portion of my life. However, when there's someone who wants to show off and act cool, they disregard whatever the teacher says are the rules and they just hit the ball willy nilly and they don't share the ball with anyone else on the team. Thankfully that never happens in my Physical education class because of the awesome players in there. There's also two actual volleyball players in my class. One being myself, and Sarah "Cougzie" Mye (yes, I came up with that name! I'm very proud of myself). It's funny because we're both setters when we played on the school team and now we get the chance to do things like hit and play defense. We did play these positions on the team, but we get to play these positions more often in p.e. class. Anyways, the point I'm trying to make is that my Physical Education class this year is definitely the best active class he's had in years. I feel very honored to be in that class and I can't wait to continue to crush a lot in every sport!

11-29-11 Pride and What?

My favorite book, so far, is my outside reading book for A.P. English which was Pride and Prejudice. The majority of my friends read this book and told me that it was very good. I thought it was so different and enjoyable that my friend Sarah Mye and myself decided to rent the movie and watch it together since we both read the book for the first time. The movie was so close to the book, which usually isn't the case. The book was a little difficult to read at first, but once I began to read more into the words and into the story, I became really engulphed in the novel. This book is about a family with five daughters that need to be married to ensure a good future. Most women at this time would only marry rich men, so they know that they will be taken care of. However, a young girl named Elizabeth Bennet seems to want more out of a relationship: love. This is very rare to find in these times because most women only want to marry for riches. Elizabeth's sister, Jane, seems to find the perfect man who she falls in love with. He is also extremely wealthy, which just adds to the attraction. However, their relationship became very unclear in the middle of the novel. Elizabeth also starts out with a confusing affiliation with a wealthy man, Mr. Darcy. Their relationship shifts back and forth throughout the entire novel. There is some irony in the title and novel because Elizabeth judges Mr. Darcy based on other people's lies, which is, dare I say, prejudice. I don't want to ruin the story for everyone because it is a really great book. If you love to read about the romance and the difficulties of marriage in early times, then this book is a great option.

11-21-11 Three Wishes

One wish I have is that I wish Laura Slojkowski, Madeline Koelbl, and I can get matching t-shirts that say "Madelaurber," which is all our first names put together. The shirt will have a car that has a guitar on the top of it and a bubble with that name on it. This wish is in the process of becoming true, but it will take some time unfortunately. My second wish would have to be that volleyball should last for a longer period of time. It doesn't have to last for the entire school year because that's a little eccentric. I understand that most of the girls on the team play other sports that they look forward to so I wouldn't want to do that to them. I just wish the season could go a little longer because I really miss playing and I really miss my teammates. I hardly see most of them throughout the day and I just miss all the good times we had together like before volleyball games and during practice. My third wish would be to have two more wishes because I can't choose between two ideas for wishes. My fourth wish is a little selfish, so I'm sorry, but I wish that I could be the owner of the television show Glee. I wish this because I'd be able to see this show in the making and I'd get to know what happens in the season, without waiting each week. Finally, I wish that the staff of the Alden Bulldog Newspaper would wear their office badges because a lot of time and effort was put into making these and Mrs. Currin laminated all of them, taking time out of her day, and no one wears them to the Newsroom, and it's pretty upsetting. Maybe if the workers had a role model like, oh I don't know, perhaps the so called "Boss Man" of the Newsroom. Yeah, that'd be cool, but that doesn't happen so now I must wish for it.

11-21-11 Christmas Music Haters!

This week, I've decided to write my choice blog on the big issue on when Christmas music should be played. I've spoken to several people about this subject, and the answers were all pretty similar in response. There was a total of eleven people I talked to about this subject. When I spoke with my family members about this topic, they all pretty much agreed that playing Christmas music in November, before Thanksgiving, is way too early. My sister, Allison, however disagreed very strongly with my mom, dad, and other sister. Despite her attempts in swaying them towards the idea of Christmas music being played prior to Thanksgiving, they wouldn’t budge on this sensitive issue. My mother, Liz Breyer, thinks that Christmas music should only be played the month of December. My father, Jim Breyer, thinks that it should only be played the day of Christmas, but he is kind of a Grinch. Just kidding Papa! Anyways, my other sister, Andi Breyer, agrees with my mom. Then, outside my family, I talked to Jordan Hall, Julie Fetzer, and Sarah Mye. All these people agree that Christmas music takes away the holiday of Thanksgiving, which is why it should begin playing afterwards. Jordan Hall became very in depth with this subject when I interviewed him, which did sell his point across, but mostly just confused me. After I talked to the three previous people, I talked with four of my coworkers in the Newsroom, Laura Slojkowski, Madeline Koelbl, Brian Stoldt, and Kathleen Herter. Brian made the point to say that there has to be snow on the ground for Christmas music to play. When I brought up the possibility that it might not snow some places, like Hawaii, he got very upset and heated over this subject. He began raging on and started to flip a table over. I didn't mean for the conversation to get that out of hand. It must have been some leftover feelings about that game of target ball last year. I can't be sure. Anyways, ten out of eleven people believe that November is too early to begin playing Christmas music, unless it's after Thanksgiving with the point that this music takes away from Thanksgiving, or they are still in "Halloween mode" since it is still the fall season. I do agree with all these points made about Christmas and Thanksgiving. I believe Thanksgiving is very neglected as a holiday, but when I asked these interviewed people if they like Christmas music, they all replied "yes." Then when I asked them if they thought this music was the happiest music they can listen too, all of them but three said "yes." The three that said no were my dad, my sister Andi, and Brian Stoldt. My dad has no emotion, so he doesn't feel happy with any music. My sister is a suck-up to my dad so she just agrees with whatever he says, and Brian claims that "It's definitely up there," "It" being Christmas music. My point about Christmas music is simply that it's the happiest time of the year, with the happiest music played, so why wouldn't we want to listen to this music two months rather than just one month after Thanksgiving? I understand the points made by these people, but I have to agree with my sister that it's okay Christmas music is being played early in November. Both Allison and I have also watched the movies, "Elf" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" already and we are not ashamed!

11-15-11 Mo'e Movies, Mo'e Problems!

My three favorite movies would have to be Harry Potter 7 part 2, Baby Mama, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the second version). I do love the original cartoon version of the Grinch also, but the second version is really funny. Anyways, Harry Potter 7 part 2 is such a good movie because it's full of action and humor. I think my favorite part about this movie was the experience I had going to see it in theatres. I went to see HP 7 with Melissa Gostomski and Jordan Hall and we were about three hours early to the show because we wanted really good seats. When we got there, we had to wait in line for one hour because the theatre wouldn't let people in until two hours before the actual start. We were three hours early, but we were still at the end of the line. That just shows how serious people are about Harry Potter. Anyways, once we got into the theatre, we literally ran to the room where the movie was being shown. We got pretty good seats, but there were a lot of people that were already there. Anyways, we had quite a bit of time to kill before the movie actually started so Melissa, Jordan, and I thought of a game where two of us would think of a character from the entire Harry Potter series and the other person would have to guess which character we thought of by just asking questions. So it was basically 20 questions about Harry Potter characters. After that got really old, we decided to just chat about different topics, such as how people spell some words incorrectly all the time, which upsets us, and other things like which Harry Potter movie was our favorite. Then we made friends with the people in front of us using the great art of Photobombing. We sat behind a person dressed as a Dementor, which is just a scary creature in the movie that takes the souls of people. Then as time went on, people began to say "45 minutes!" meaning that there was 45 minutes left until the movie started, then everyone clapped. Melissa got very excited because she got to say "13 minutes!" and everyone clapped. Then when the commercials began, the crowd applauded after every showing, which was kind of odd but accepted. Then when the movie began, everyone stood up and began clapping again. I was so much fun to just see how serious most people are about these movies. The people next to us would not stop crying throughout the entire movie. It got pretty annoying, but we got over it. Well, now that I fulfilled my blog requirements, I will talk briefly about my next two favorite movies. The movie, Baby Mama, pretty much sums up my life. I love Baby Mama. My friends and I quote this movie everyday of our lives and that is pretty much all I can say about it. Then the movie, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, is just super classic and so good and funny. Both versions of this movie are great and very fun to watch with family, or friends.

11-8-11 Angola, New York

Angola New York; how does one describe this mystical and inspiring place? So many great people, stories, and events have come from Angola. This quaint little town is located just 30 miles south of Buffalo, N.Y. But how did this town achieve the interesting name, Angola? In the past, trains would come in and out of this small area called Evan's Station. Then the Angola Post Office, located in Africa, closed and the Federal Government moved it to Evan's Station, renaming the area Angola N.Y. This story and many other stories and traditions have survived the many years this great town has been in existence. This town also includes events like Christmas in the Village, sponsored by FOV, or Friends of the Village, or "Adopt a Hydrant" where people can paint their favorite themes on the fire hydrants around the town to admire the fire department. These events were thought up by people in Angola and the Village Board. The members of Board include Village Mayor the Honorable Howard "Hub" Frawley, Deputy Mayer the Honorable William Houston, first Village Trustee John Wilson, second Village Trustee Carole Kin, and third Village Trustee Charles Katra. Despite this groups great efforts and perseverance, people like Jo Anne Zeffiro have truly made this town great. Jo Anne, or Aunt JoJo as Mr. Currin refers to her as, is currently employed at the Goya distribution center on South Street in Angola New York. Not only are there great people living there today, but there were many people that once lived in Angola and are now famous. One example is Willis Haviland Carrier, born November 26, 1876 in Angola, New York, who invented the first modern air conditioner, which has changed millions of lives today. Another example is the center/power forward for the Duke basketball team, Christian Laettner, born August 17, 1969 in Angola New York. He was also selected for the U.S. men's Olympic team, then drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA draft and played 13 seasons in the NBA. A familiar person from Angola would also have to be Buffalo Sabre's right wing, Patrick Kaleta. He was born June 8, 1986 and has played for the Sabres from 2006 to the present time. Finally, the last, but certainly not least, person from Angola New York is Rob Currin, born on September 15, 1980. Rob Currin needs no introduction because he is known for his many accomplishments, like being the Offensive and Defensive Line Coach for the Alden High School Varsity Football team, who are undefeated. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the Online Bulldog Newspaper, and has 700 friends on Facebook (probably increasing by the minute). However, Rob Currin does have one flaw...he never found Yoda. That's right Mr. Currin, it was I who kidnapped Yoda, but you can still find him...he's right under your nose in Online Publishing. But anyways, that is just scratching the surface of the great town of Angola New York and its many achievements and traditions.

10-31-11 Such a Neglected Holiday!

I think the Columbus Day has been completely overlooked as a holiday. I like it because we get a day off of school. It was a little more intense this year because at 8 o'clock that morning, two cars were in an accident outside my house. It was a much different way to wake up, but it was pretty exciting. I actually thought that it was thunder when the car hit our porch and tried to go back to sleep. I know that that was a little ridiculous, but a car flipping onto our porch is not a very common occurrence so I thought of the most logical explanation for the noise. Then I realized something was wrong when my mom and uncle were running around. Then the car caught on fire! That made everything crazier because the possibility of my house catching on fire was pretty plausible. So I, of course, start joking around. I know that sounds really bad, but whenever I get in serious situations I begin to make jokes and laugh to keep the mood positive even though it's pretty serious what is going on. Well, thankfully, the kids that live across the street were very understanding of my humor and weren't that offended by my jokes. Luckily the house didn't catch on fire, but there was a really bad smoky smell that engulfed the entire house. I know that this experience would make most people hate this holiday, but without this happening, I would never have thought of the Halloween costume this year and I wouldn't have this crazy story to tell people. When students are asked what they did on their day off, they usually say things like sleeping in, but I get to say that a car flipped onto my porch at 8 in the morning on our day off...No Big Deal!

10-24-11 TOMS!!!

So when conflicted with the option of a choice blog, I wasn't sure of what to write. Then I received a package in the mail the day of October 24, 2011. This package contained probably one of my most valued possessions, which is kind of sad, but beside the point. Yes, I've decided to write my choice blog on my new pair of TOM's shoes. These shoes are probably one of the most awesome pairs of shoes you will ever see. They come in so many colors, patterns, and designs. It was very difficult to choose which pair to buy because there were so many options. I literally debated on three pairs of these shoes for a good thirty minutes. Then I had a revelation when I saw the most beautiful pair of TOMS ever. They were leopard print, so I was like, "DONE." Not only are they super cute and comfortable, but every time a person buys a pair of their shoes, the company donates a pair of shoes to a child in Africa. This pretty much justified the fact that I spent $55 on a pair of shoes, which is a little steep I know. However, my sister gave me gift cards to me for my birthday last week for TOMS, so technically she spent $55 on shoes...so I feel better about myself. This brings me to my next point which is my birthday is on August 12th and She gave me my present October 15th...I'm not complaining, but this seems to be a trend that is happening from year to year because she did the same thing last year, only she waited until November to give me my gift. So, she's gotten a little better, but it's still kind of late. Oh well, I'm just super excited about my TOMS that I'm probably wearing right now so you should look at them because they're pretty sweet!

10-21-11 Best Class Ever!

My favorite class would have to be Online Publishing, no question. There is literally no comparison to any other class because it's just that awesome. I love days 1 and 3 because those are the days when I have Online Publishing. It's the highlight of my day because I have two difficult and long classes the first two blocks, then a nice simple day afterwards. I also love the people in that class, like Kathleen Herter and Laura Slojkowski. Again, I really can't stand Brian Stoldt. He just has to talk back to me every time I speak, which is rude...keep in mind, I'm only joking! Anyways, we always have something fun going on in that class and it makes me more and more excited to get there. For example, we are making I.D. badges for the News Room and we're going to laminate them, which is going to be awesome. Mr. Currin informed me that he had a laminator machine at his house (not in Angola) which isn't normal might I add, but it is helpful. I think that the blogs we do are also very fun and the articles we have are very intriguing and creative. I love being a senior editor as well, because I like checking other people's work and seeing what a great job the class is doing. However, my main focus has been the Party Planning Committee, which consists of Madeline Koelbl, Tara Hammershmidt, and me. We pretty much run the Newspaper and coordinate Casual Fridays, which can't be on Thursdays because they are called Casual Fridays (not Casual Thursdays). Mr. Currin always makes our class fun and enjoyable because of the jokes and random comments made throughout the class. The same jokes and comments were used in last year's Online Publishing class, and yet they still manage to crack me up laughing.

10-19-11 He's Kind of a Big Deal...

I would have to say that my favorite teacher is Mr. Currin, and I'm not trying to be a suck up or anything. I just enjoy the classes I have with him as a teacher. For example, Online Publishing is my favorite class and he is the teacher for that class. I like Online Publishing because the people in there are so funny and we all get along so well...except me and Brian because I can't stand him...just kidding...but seriously. Despite that, Mr. Currin makes the class really fun and enjoyable. I also have A.P. English with him and that class is really great too because of the discussions the class has with the books we read and the messages we talk about. We also talk about Mr. Foss and his beliefs a lot in class which is fun because I had him for U.S. history and I know the majority of his teachings. I just like the way Mr. Currin lets us discuss topics by ourselves in Socratic Seminars because I get so many ideas that I never would have thought of without listening to the other students. I also had him for English 11 last year. I've literally had him twice a year for two years now. Well, in that time I've learned a lot from his classes and I've got to react with people I wouldn't usually in his classes or who I don't normally see throughout the day which is always really fun. I know this is going to sound corny, but Mr. Currin inspired me to want to become a high school english teacher. I love reading and writing and discussing how people interpret the messages that are sent through the book. When I grow up and find a teaching job, maybe, I hope that I can be as great of a teacher as Mr. Currin is.

10-11-11 Loves Me Some TEDS!

I love Ted's Hot Dogs. That pretty much sums up my eating life. I usually get two cheeseburgers, some of their beatutiful fries, and just a medium Dr. Pepper. I know that two cheeseburgers are a bit much, but I can't resist the deliciosity. Plus their french fries are so good! I love them primarily because they're always fresh unlike other food establishments, like McDonalds. With McDonalds, you never know if the fries are going to be fresh or old. If the fries are old, they become almost exactly like an actual potato and they taste really cold and gross. At Ted's, all the food is made right in front of you, so you know that it's fresh. I think that Ted's Hot Dogs are also pretty amazing. Well, the restaurant is named after their hot dogs so I'd expect them to be awesome, which they are. My family has also been going to Ted's since I was little so I've grown up with Ted's in my life, and it's hard to fathom that some people have never had Ted's before. I can't understand how people could ever doubt Ted's delicious food, unless they were vegetarians or vegans. I just love Ted's cheeseburgers so much and I can't find another way to put this because I've already said everything that I wanted to say so...this is just my favorite restaurant ever. Usually I'm speechless every time I get to eat their food because their food it that amazing and that wonderful. The people that make the food are also very nice, most of the time. Once my sister ordered a cheeseburger and this lady started questioning if my sister knew what she was talking about because the lady thought Allison said freezeburger, which made no sense whatsoever. That was a really odd encounter, but it was pretty funny. I also know that the Ted's restaurant is not in Alden, but it's just so good and no other restaurant can compare to Ted's because it's just classic awesome-ness.

9-30-11 Dont't be Hating!

I think that bullying is completely unnecessary and unwanted. This story about Jamey makes me cringe, and it makes me embarrased to see that people are still so ignorant. Just because some people are different doesn't give others the right to tear that person down and make them feel alone. I also hate how people think that gay people choose to love people from their own gender. It's not like they choose to like the same gender to make other people uncomfortable. They can't help how they feel and they should'nt be bullied for what they believe and who they love. This is a particularly touchy subject for me becasue my oldest sister is gay. My family was very accepting and approving of her and I would never make fun of her or stop talking to her because of who she loves. My sister realized she was gay when she was in college so she didn't have to deal with the harsh environment of high school bullying, however she still gets ridiculed when she walks around with her girlfriend. Even if nothing is said to her, the looks she gets are just unacceptable to me. If anyone ever tried to hurt or bully my sister, I would do anything to protect her, minus killing someone...well...just kidding, but seriously I will always protect my sister even if she's older than me. I just can't stand how these poor kids are treated because they are really great kids and if those jerks would take the time to know these kids, they'd realize that they are just like everyone else and that who they love shouldn't single them out as gays and lesbians and outsiders. They have the right to love who they want to love and they shouldn't be singled out for what they feel.

9-26-11 This is Intense

I would have to say that the greatest moment in my life was finding out that I made Senior Editor in Online Publishing. It's probably the greatest achievement I have, besides catching a 90 mile per hour target ball being thrown at my head, on purpose, by Brian Stoldt, who is the Varsity Quarterback and who's on the Varsity Baseball team. That's a completely different story, however. Anyways, being a Senior Editor is so rewarding because I get to help other members of the News Room and I get pretty nice perks. For example, I get to do one less blog than everyone else, but then again other editors get that too. Well Mr. Currin claims that another perk is seeing him every other day, but everyone else gets to see him every other day as well. He also says that we get his undying respect, which he said the first day of school everyone in the class gets too. There is one thing that we, Senior Editors, get as well; Mr. Currin's admiration. Well, although there is pretty much one actual perk of being a Senior Editor, I am still very proud of myself. I also believe that there is a pattern with these Online Publishing classes because last year, Tori Delzer, was a Senior Editor and she became Homecoming Queen. Well, I'm a Senior Editor and I am also Homecoming Queen. Obviously this is not just a coincidence. I think that this basically means that I'm kind of a big deal. That's the only logical explanation for this occurence that I can come up with. Despite the fact that there is only one, if not zero, legitimate perks that comes to being a Senior Editor, I think that the legacy that I can leave behind makes everything better. I'm, of course, kidding about there being only one perk to being a Senior Editor, but I think the best part about it is that Online Publishing is like a big family to me and I love being here and being a part of this family!

9-22-11 "Fall" into the best season!

My favorite season, according to my title, is fall. I think it's the perfect time of the year because it's not extremely hot and it's never freezing cold. It always has the perfect weather because I can just wear a t-shirt with jeans and be completely comfortable. However, I can also wear sweatpants and be completely okay. Well, I wear sweatpants every day of the year, but in summer, I get really hot and end up changing into shorts. Then I have to wear two pairs of sweatpants in the winter because it gets so cold at my house because we have no heat. It's pretty horrible, but I get by. Despite the weather and the clothing I get to wear, I really love the leaves and how they change colors. Just yesterday I saw a giant row of trees and there was just one in the middle of all of them turning bright red underneath. I just think it's so pretty to watch all the trees change color from day to day. However, these color changes also mean that the leaves will fall soon, which leads to me raking leaves. It isn't very fun, but I love jumping in the leaves afterwards. But then I realize I have to rake all the leaves up again since I jumped in them. Well, that idea was a fail. Anyways, fall is my favorite season mostly because of the scenery and the color changing leaves. It's also a time to prepare for the winter and the cold weather. Although it isn't freezing cold, fall weather kind of starts off the cold weather, but it isn't too harsh of weather. It prepares you for the really cold weather in fall by being just a little chilly at first then turning into the really cold weather in the wintertime.

9-20-11 Who uses The Book?

Well, I use The Facebook because it was at that time when everyone was using one last year. However, I don't really check it that much anymore. I only check it for school related issues or if I have friend requests, which doesn't usually happen. It's sad, I know. I believe that the positives of the Facebook include the fact that it's a fun way to stay connected to your friends. It also doesn't cost any money to chat on it, like texting. I think that it's also a great way to meet new people. For example, if there's someone new, and they want to meet more people in the school they are attending, they can use The Facebook and find new people with similar interests. I think that The Facebook is very entertaining, but I don't know why half the time. It's one of those things that can just distract me for hours. I can't even comprehend how much time I used to spend on The Facebook. I'd be doing my homework for about ten minutes, and decide to take a break and go on The Facebook. Next thing I know, it's two hours later and I only got three questions done. I don't understand how I got so distracted either. The only thing to do on The Facebook is to comment on pictures or creep on other people's Facebook pages. I'm not going to lie; I've creeped on people's Facebook pages on more than one occasion. I'm pretty sure that everyone has creeped on someone at least once in their Facebook lives. Unless I'm the only one, then that would be really weird of me. For the record I only creep because I think other people do it as well, so there's my justification. Anyways, I think the major negative of The Facebook is that people get a little carried away with the creeping, and it escalates to stalking. However, I don’t think that happens too often and people shouldn’t be worried about that ever happening.

9-14-11 Best Year EVER!

I'd have to say my favorite school year, so far, would be my senior year, which would be this year. My schedule is a very easy and laid back schedule. I have my hardest classes the first two blocks of the day, and then the rest of the day is very fun and relaxed. The only tough classes, to me, that I'm taking are Physics, Pre-calculus, and Social Studies. Thankfully, on days 1 and 3, I have Pre-calculus first block, then Physics second block. After advisement, I go to the weight room as a T.A. then I go to lunch during 3c. Of course, my next two classes are with Mr. Currin. I know what you're thinking, and no, it isn't that bad to have Mr. Currin for two straight classes. Then again, this is only the second week of school. Anyways, on days 2 and 4, my day is pretty laid back. I have Social Studies first block, then Physics lab and Gym second block. Then I have the same routine for block 3 on days 2 and 4. However, I have Spanish last block, which is very fun and interesting. Besides my relaxed schedule, this year is my favorite because I am the Treasurer of Student Congress this year. We've already planned out so much for this year and I can't wait to begin completing each plan. I also like this year the most because of volleyball. I did sprain my ankle and miss the first couple of games and a tournament, but I've learned so much about each of my teammates by just watching them. I feel a lot more together with my team now that I've seen and helped them play. And now, I can continue to work with them and myself in volleyball since my ankle has gotten better. I know that this year is going to be the best volleyball year yet and also the best school year ever!

9-8-11 So Much to Do, So Little Time

This year is my senior year, so like many seniors I hope to accomplish many things before my freshman year of college. I am taking many difficult classes this year, like pre-calculus and Physics, which I will probably regret taking by the end of this year. I'm hoping that these classes will pay off and help me in my future college classes. I want to go into the medical career nowadays so I'm sure that I'm going to have to take even more difficult classes, but those classes will prepare me for the future. Besides my class choices, I also hope to play a lot of volleyball within the next school year. Unfortunately, I rolled my ankle the third day of practice. I know that's pretty upsetting. Most of the people that found out I hurt my ankle asked me the same questions over and over again: When are you going back to volleyball? How did you roll your ankle? Does your ankle hurt? That last question was asked more than you'd think. Of course my ankle hurts; I landed on someone's foot and rolled my ankle. That would hurt anyone. I won't know when I get back to volleyball until my orthopedic appointment on Tuesday, September, 13th. It was super hard at first to accept the news I got from Immediate Care. The first time I went, the doctor told me that I fractured my ankle and wouldn't play for the rest of the season. That destroyed me because it was my senior year and I was the senior captain and I really love playing. I didn't cry when I actually hurt my ankle, but I started to tear up when I found out about the fracture. However, that sadness quickly turned around. I went the next day for a follow up check on my ankle, and the actual orthopedic doctor told me I only sprained my ankle. I was so happy that I'd be back for volleyball this year, but it would take a while to heal. Either way, I've accepted that my team is doing great without me, but I really can't wait to start playing again!

9-8-11 Climbing a Mountain!

Throughout this past summer vacation, I've gone to many interesting places. The third week of July involved me and my family attending my cousin, Dana's, wedding in Colorado. It was probably the most creative wedding I've ever been to. Dana and her husband, Mark, decided to get married on home plate at Coors Field for the Colorado Rockies. My family in Colorado has always been big fans of baseball and softball. The ceremony was really well decorated and really hot. I think it was about 101 degrees the day they got married, and of course their wedding had to be outside. The weather was the only difficult part of the day, thankfully. After the ceremony, we all went to the V.I.P. section of the stadium and waited for the food. I thought the cleverest part was how people knew where to sit for dinner. Each table was named after a baseball team, like the St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Senators, or the Buffalo Bisons. Altogether, it was a really great day. However, that all changed the next day when my dad, my sister, my sister's boyfriend Jared, and I decided to go on an adventure. I was tricked into attending this outing because my dad led me to believe that we'd be hiking around town, not up a giant mountain. The mountain was called the Flat Irons, and it sure was flat...vertically. My sister, Alli, and I had to take water breaks every three steps because the mountain was so steep. Of course my dad and Jared didn't break a sweat until we reached the top of the mountain while Alli and I were dripping in sweat. Although it was the most disgusting and horrible experience of my life, I reserve the right now to say that I have climbed a mountain!

My chorus class this year with Mr. Buscemi has definitely been an exciting time. The first day we started singing and none of us really expected to but we still had to do it. As the time went on through the year, we sang songs mostly about God. I don't know why we do, but the majority of our songs have to do with Jesus or God's will. I know it's pretty exciting, but we have to do it to get a good grade. We also sang a song called Wade in the Water. This song kind of makes me think about slaves. If you heard it for an entire first half of the year, you'd understand why. Of course that song has to do with God troubling water. Then we sang this song called The Echo Song. Really original I know. It was performed basically like an echo. A bunch of students would be group one and the other half would be group two. The first group would sing a line, then the second group would cut in the middle of the line and start singing the same line like an echo. I actually liked this song the best out of all my chorus songs because I really liked the effect it had. This was also one of the few songs that didn't have God in any of the lines. I have nothing against God being in our songs, but when it gets to be every song we sing has his name in the lyrics, then it gets a little old. Anyway, we already had our chorus concert, so at the end of the half we just sit in the room and watch movies that are musicals. Today was probably the best movie we every could have watched. Raise Your Voice with Hilary Duff! I was probably the most excited person in the room when I realized it. Then people would keep interupting Hilary Duff by making fun of her or somthing like that. So all I would say was, "Make fun of Hilary Duff again and see what happens." Obviously those people were intimidated by me and stopped, but I still thought it was rude. I mean Hilary Duff took all this time to make such a great movie for us and people aren't even listening. Though she is making tons of money off it, those people still had no right.

My Super Bowl Sunday consists of my Auntie Debbie cooking a bunch of food at her house and my family comes over and we all eat. My Aunt even pulls up a table right in front of the T.V. Then we all congregate and eat her delicious food and watch the game. Last year was so much fun because it was around the same time when my Aunt got her puppy, Bocce. He was so cute as a little puppy. He was also nuts as a puppy and still is. So he was a little, tiny ball of fun. Anyways I loved watching it. I don't know if you'll believe this, but I actually didn't watch the Super Bowl two years ago. It was really depressing. But I loved last years because the New Orleans Saints won! My favorite team is obviously the Bills, but unfortunately they didn't make it this year so I have to like the Saints. My favorite player on the Saints has to be Drew Brees. He's such a good quarterback and he helped rebuild New Orleans. Ellen DeGeneres also has his jersey in her studio because she's from New Orleans so she loves the Saints football team. And I love watching her show so I've grown on the Saints. I actually just went to my friends cousins birthday party and someone who I didn't know had a Drew Brees jersey on and I was really jealous. Anyways I'm really excited about this year because we got a new H.D. T.V. and It's probably the coolest thing in my life right now. It has its own set for football programs. It makes the picture easier to see all the technical things. It's not super impressive, but can a regualr non-H.D. T.V. do that? I believe the answer is no.

Social networking has impacted my life in many ways. I'm usually on the fence half the time about Facebook, or the Book, but I don't like Myspace or Twitter. Myspace is just to open. At least on the Book you can choose for only your friends to see your profile. Whenever I hear about Myspace from my friends, they all say that there is this person who they don't know that keeps talking to them through Myspace. I think that would be really creepy. Myspace also asks for your address and a bunch of your information. On the Book you can choose not to show your personal information like an email or a phone number. Then there's Twitter. Twitter is just when you write what you are doing at that moment you're on. At least on the Book you can have pictures and games. Twitter seems like whenever someone goes on, all they do is post a comment and look at other people's comments on their own life. Sometimes I doubt the Book even though I have one. It's just that most people are on, but some people I know just don't want people creeping on their the Book or the Book stalking. This isn't the literal meaning of stalking. It simply means that some people that Book stalk look at other people's profile and just look through their pictures. Usually people Book stalk to know about people their friends know. I admit that I've Book stalked. I don't think it really is a big deal. It just confuses me when people spend all after school to go on the Book. That is a little ridiculous. And then they all complain that they never have time to finish their homework after school. I don't know. I, personally, do my homework right when I get home because I hate knowing that you have something to do and you end up having to do it during school, the day it's due. I'd rather know I'm done with it and relieve myself of all the stress.

For this third blog I think I'm going to write about my Christmas break, but not really Christmas. I just want to talk about what happened after Christmas. Well I think it was the Sunday after Christmas when me, My sisters Alli and Andi, and Alli's boyfriend Jared, went to the Bills game. We also tailgated with the Delzers before the game. Me and Andi arrived earlier than Alli and Jared. It was really fun even though it was freezing cold. We actually all had to crowd around a barrel of fire to keep warm. There was a bunch of food there like breakfast pizza and potatoes from the grill and egg sandwiches. After the tailgating was getting put away, Alli and Jared finally show up. We walked in to the stadium and realized our dad gave us the nice heated seats below the box seats. They weren't that warm, but they were covered by the box so we didn't get snowed on. It was going pretty well since the Bills got three points off a field goal, until the other team started getting a couple touchdowns. However, I was more distracted by Alli not feeling well. She was crouched over telling us she didn't feel well at all. We were worried and out of no where she voms(vomits) on the seat in front of her. Luckily there weren't a lot of people around us so it wasn't that big of a deal. While Alli and Andi were going in to the bathroom, I stayed back with Jared since he'd never been to a Bills game because he lives in Albany. Anyways there was this girl who was complaining about Alli voming because of drinking. Alli didn't have anything to drink before the game so that lady was just annoying us. Plus there are probably like eighty people a game that get sick so this lady was coming into the game knowing someone might vom. As Andi walked by she told the lady that she (the lady) didn't even know what happened. Then after Andi left the lady kept complaining and I mumbled under my breath, "Wow, shut up" which I know was kind of rude, but if you heard this lady complain, you'd understand. So then the lady turned to me and was like, "Did you say something?" so I may have yelled a little bit and just said, "I wasn't talking to you!" I felt kind of bad afterwards and I thought of apologizing, but that just didn't make any sense since I kind of yelled at her. The good news is that we left early from the game so Alli could get home and that lady didn't say anything after I "spoke" to her.

2011 is going to be a great year. I can just feel the success in just this month. We have exams in just three weeks and thankfully I only have one actual exam to do on Tuesday. The exam is for Trigonometry and I'm kind of excited because I do understand most of the things we learn in class. I'm hoping to get above a 95% because that was my grade on the geometry exam last year. Mrs. Nelson is a great teacher and she pushes us to think further into each part of trigonometry so we understand it and can use it in our everyday life. Other than the Trig exam, I have to present a speech, without any flashcards, about a person of our choice that is of Spanish decent. Oh, we also have to speak for ten minutes on this person while speaking Spanish relatively well. I'm pretty nervous for that day, but I think I will do kind of well. After this very nice and easy year of only two major classes, not including Online Publishing which is one of my major courses plus Trig and Spanish, I'm in for a difficult next year. Next half of the school year I have Chemistry, U.S. History, and English as my major classes and I also have Gym and Chemistry Lab. It's going to be a tough half, but I'm hoping to keep good grades all throughout the year. I am also looking forward to my English class next half with Mr. Currin. The funny part about my schedule is that I have Mr. Currin as a teacher both halves and both times I see him, it's in fourth block. Not only do I get to see Mr. Currin at the end of the day, again, but I also get to see my friends Julie, Jordan, Cindy, and a couple other people in that class as well.

This past 2010 year was a very long and fun year. I was a lot more supportive and helpful to my junior class. I ran for office, but unfortunately lost. I don't mind though because this current vice president is good too and he deserved to win. Even though I lost that office, I still help out with fundraisers and other occasions. The float meetings I went to were really fun too. I also helped out at the hallway decorating for homecoming and that was right after a volleyball game. It may have been a little disgusting that I was there with a couple other players sweating, but it was worth it because we won that game and got to help out the class. Anyways another accomplishment I made through the year 2010 was that I made captain of the varsity volleyball team. This was my first year as a captain since last year I was only a sophomore when I made varsity. I was chosen by my teammates that made the varsity team. It was really rewarding and exciting when I found out that I made captain. It was pretty stealth-like when coach told me too because both the J.V. and Varsity teams were all in a circle and we were going to share something about our big and little sisters (Big sisters were on Varsity and little sisters were on J.V.). So coach started out saying "O.K. Let's here from our first Varsity captain, Amber Breyer." I was so pumped at that time. I jumped up and just yelled "YEA!" It was so much fun being a captain because I hosted spaghetti dinners and I offered suggestions like making shirts and dedicating a game to breast cancer awareness. It was such a great year and I'm a little upset that It's over, but I'm looking forward to 2011!
