R2- The Currin Blog

So I wrote a blog at the beginning of the year about Angola, New York, and mentioned a "Rob Currin." I believe my exact words on Mr. Currin were, "Rob Currin, born on September 15, 1980. Rob Currin needs no introduction because he is known for his many accomplishments, like being the Offensive and Defensive Line Coach for the Alden High School Varsity Football team, who are undefeated. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the Online Bulldog Newspaper, and has 700 friends on Facebook (probably increasing by the minute)." Now at this time, I was a loyal fan of Mr. Currin's, but ever since he bashed one of my reporters and threatened senior editor probation for this one mistake, my allegiance has changed ( yes that was a Harry Potter reference...Don't judge). I make one mistake and I should get punished for the remainder of my Online Publishing career? I think not. I don't believe I've ever had a reporter miss a deadline either, which is pretty impressive. Anyways, Mr. Currin says he's a big deal and makes an odd voice when he recites this phrase. This makes me wonder if he's being truthful, or if he's lying and is trying to cover it up. I can't be sure. He also loses Yoda about five times a day and does nothing about it... Obviously he doesn't care enough about him to bother with worrying about his location or anything. Also, Mr. Currin told us what he thinks about when he goes to a concert. Well, he thinks about the lead guitarist falling dead in the middle of the show and the band calls out to the crowd asking if there was anyone who knew how to play the guitar and knew all of the band's songs. Of course Mr. Currin would raise his hand and be asked to play with the band. Really? The band wouldn't ask if there was a doctor or anything... that is definitely not the first instinct a person has when someone drops to the floor who is possibly dying... Cool Mr. Currin, real cool. I also noticed that there is a "meme" of Mr. Currin on the Facebook... I won't comment on that because it would be too easy. All in all, Mr. Currin brings himself up to be a big deal, and if that's what it takes for him to be happy, then we should all just let him do that to refrain from the braggadocios 'tude he gives... Just Saying

R1- Graduation!

The best part about the end of the school year is definitely graduation. I cannot wait to finally be done with exams and homework. I am going to miss this Online Publishing class the most though. I had quite a few excellent times in here and I can say truthfully that this is the best class ever. Anyways, I probably won't miss any of my other classes. Pre-Calc was so long and boring. Physics was interesting, but we got so off topic every class, and I will never miss Spanish 5 and will probably never take any Spanish class ever again. I'm sorry, but that class was very, very rough. Graduation just seems to finalize that school is over and summer has begun, which I cannot wait for. Although I'll have to babysit all summer, at least it's with kids that I know already and love like sisters. I'll also be making money which is always a positive. I also get to go to a bunch of Graduation parties and see all my friends for possibly one last time. I'm also looking forward to my cousin, Sarah's graduation in Washington. She graduates the Wednesday before I graduate, so my, my sister Andi, and my cousin, Abby are going to take a road trip up there until Thursday and be back in time for me to graduate. I'm so excited because I don't usually see Sarah, and she's my only cousin who is the same age as me. We used to be so close, but we don't really talk anymore and I'm just really excited that I get to see her again before she goes to college. However, I'm not looking forward to leaving my two younger best friends behind: Emma Kubik and Brian Stoldt. I know me and Brian fight quite a bit... as a matter of fact it's a pretty daily occurrence... but he's still my best friend, so deal with it. Emma Kubik has been my best friend for about three years now and I can't imagine life without her. But yes, I'll be very sad when I have to talk to Emma about life and she wont be there or if I was to prank someone at school and Brian won't be there. I'm going to miss these guys and the school, but I really am looking forward to College!

Q3- Holy...Goodness...

Oh my goodness, I have to blog about the Grey's Anatomy Season Finale. It was probably the craziest episode I've ever seen. The episode before this one ended with a few of the main characters, who are all surgeons and doctors, get into a plane crash. I know, it was crazy! So this episode starts out with each doctor blacking in and out of a fog and as it progresses, the audience finds out what happened to each doctor. One just had a bunch of bruises and cuts, which was lame. Then another had a broken arm, which was a little more interesting. But this one surgeon had a giant gouge in her leg, which was pretty ironic because her wife is an orthopedic surgeon. Anyways, one of the main characters of the show ends up dying after being completely smothered with half of the plane. That wasn't that bad to watch because I didn't like her, but it was still pretty sad. The best part of this episode was the fact that no one at the hospital where they work knew what was going on. They just acted as if all the doctors and surgeons would come back in a day. It was pretty frustrating when a helicopter flew over them and they tried to get their attention with a flare gun, but it would not work. They tried to shoot it a good five times, until one of them got so upset and angry that they threw it into the woods...Good Idea because in case another helicopter flies over there would literally be no chance of you getting their attention. We couldn't try to fix the flare gun first or anything like that. That makes no sense. I was being sarcastic in those past few sentences by the way. Anyways the worst part of this finale was the cliff hanging ending. It just ends with two of the doctors trying to make a fire and they end up failing, and still no one knows they are lost in the middle of no where. Now I have to wait two months until I find out what happens to all of them... I'm really sorry about this, but I just had to blog my feelings away.

Q3- Jordan Hall: Hero or Scapegoat?

We all know football star and scholar, Jordan Hall, to be a determined well-rounded student. In some cases, Jordan would be seen as the "hero," but unfortunately there are also times when Jordan is seen as a "scapegoat." What is a scapegoat? Well, a scapegoat is a person, or group, that is basically used to place blame upon when they need some cheering up. They are also used as "punching bags" at times, but we won't get into that. Jordan Hall is the victim of being a scapegoat. Now, I'm not saying that he is a "punching bag" literally, but he does take quite a bit of verbal and emotional abuse. For example, Jordan attends Alden High School and gets attacked pretty much every single day.The first offender is Mr. Rob Currin. Mr. Currin has said before that Jordan is definitely his scapegoat. This basically proves the fact that Jordan is a scapegoat because Mr. Currin is kind of a big deal and wouldn't lie... Anyways, another person who picks on Jordan on a regular basis is Julie Fetzer. These attacks could be justified since Jordan implied that she was fat a couple times. However, why should Jordan be penalized because of an implied comment? Well, this next person believes so and comments on why he called Julie Fetzer fat since she is extremely skinny. Jordan sees Mrs. Gramza during advisement the majority of the block, but sees her in the hallways all the time. This is where the majority of the verbal abuse comes from. Mostly quick comments about Jordan, but they do seem to effect him because he came to one of our classes crying. Anyways another person who attacks Jordan is Mr. Wild. Mr. Wild mostly makes comments about an incident that occurred to my parked car on Prom night, but we won't get into that. Mike Steffan is also someone who attacks Jordan verbally. For instance he makes fun of his voice, his laugh, and his "perfect" demeanor. Jordan seems to giggle this off, but sometimes he just can't shake the attacks. I have to say, I'm one of the worst offenders on attacking Jordan. I really do abuse him on quite a bit of things, but I honestly feel bad at times. The point of this blog was supposed to reveal the difference of Jordan's character as a hero and a scapegoat. I believe I've proven that Jordan truly is a hero because he takes all this criticism and still comes to school even though he has to face these attacks all over again and again. I'm not going to stop emotionally abusing Jordan... ever... but I hope this blog helps him realize that it's all in good fun, he's a really good friend, and that he may appear as a scapegoat, but he's also a hero!.... You're welcome Jordan.

Q2- Summer!

So summer has never really been a huge deal for me. Everyone I know can not stop talking about their summer and what they plan on doing the entire time. Summer is a break from school, thank Jesus, but I don't think it's that amazing. Maybe it's because all I do is sleep the entire day, then chill outside. I mean we can't all have pools and mothers who we force to make us strawberry smoothies...I'm sorry, I meant mango smoothies. Anyways, I think this summer might be more pressured than most because I'm going to college in the fall, which will probably stress me out a bit. I also got a job this summer. It's just a babysitting gig, but it pays quite a bit. I'm really happy because they're kids that my mom once babysat, so I like them and will enjoy my time babysitting. I also plan on joining a volleyball league with a few teachers over the summer to stay in shape. I don't know any of the details because Mr. Helmicki and Mr. Casillo briefly told me about it, but I'm still pretty excited because my volleyball coach, Ms. Marslov, will be playing. I can already tell we're going to win because Coach Marslov has played volleyball since she was in middle school, and me...enough said... I'm just kidding, but I am really excited and optimistic that we will do really well. I will also be going to Outer Banks this year which is going to be awesome. We go every four years with a couple other families, but we're getting another additional family this year. I would explain what we do in Outer Banks, but it can get kind of inappropriate for school. It's not anything really bad, but I still shouldn't write about it in this sacred blogging world of Online Publishing. Alright that is pretty much all I can think about right now and I hope this is 300 words because I'm through with my thoughts... we're good.

Q1- Best Book EVER!

I suggest that everyone who reads this blog read Huckleberry Finn. It is literally the greatest book every written. Each character you read about, you can;t help but love. A boy named Huckelberry Finn who is finally getting his life together and making a difference in his personality pretty much reverts back to his childish and juvenile ways. I mean c'mon? How can you not love this guy? Another character is Huck's father. His father is a drunk and abusive man who is very keen on beating his son and locking him in a house while he finds more liquor... And the Father of the Year award goes to... Huck's dad! Again, a very lovable character. Then there is Jim, a slave of Huck's original residence. Not only is he super wise, his accent is probably the best thing since pancakes. Every time he speaks in the book, I can't help but read more and more because it's so legible and understandable. There are no apostrophes acting as letters, and you don't have to force a fake accent in your mind while reading. There was an entire chapter of just Jim speaking and I cried real tears because of the beautiful speech he gave. The more and more I think about this book, I just want to read it over and over and over again. I'd have to say that my favorite part in this entire novel is when Huck dresses like a woman and goes to a house in order to get information. This is just great writing overall. Who can come up with these events? This is just brilliant. This also makes me love Huck even more because dressing up like a woman and traveling into town and meeting another lady for information makes so much sense, it's not even debatable. More guys should be like Huck Finn and dress like girls. Despite Huck's dazzling personality, Jim is definitely my favorite character all because of his near perfect diction and amazing vocabulary. Well, all in all I think that this storyline is one of the greatest I've ever read and I can't say it enough about it. Thankfully the opportunity to read this novel comes with signing up for Rob Currin's A.P. Literature and Composition class your senior year. You even get to read it over the summer which makes the experience so much better! It's not difficult at all to write a journal entry for each chapter because the read is so much fun! If you can't take A.P. Lit, I understand, (but seriously it is the most fun class I have other than Online Publishing and is totally worth taking) but I hope you can just take a chance to read Huckleberry Finn.

P3- Wuv You Guys!

So I'd like to dedicate my second choice blog to my two best friends in the whole world, Emma Kubik and Melissa Gostomski. I first met Melissa when I was in eighth grade. We both joined a recreational dance group over the summer and were both moved up into an advanced class. We were pretty big deals I know. We got to dance with our dance instructors and I think we just bonded over our awesomeness. I didn't become best friends with her until freshman year though, when we both tried out for volleyball. I remember her as the jokester, as she is still known as. We would always play around and she would always get in trouble and I never did, which made her pretty angry... but we were still best friends. Despite her big personality, she is really super sweet. She always laughs at my jokes which makes me feel better about myself and she always knows how to make me smile on a really bad day. I love that no matter what, we can just laugh about the smallest things and take a break from the serious world of school. Honestly, I wouldn't be able to get through Spanish 5 without her and her hilarious comments. We had chorus together as well, which is when we started talking to Emma Kubik. We also had volleyball with Emma, which enhanced our friendship. Oh Emma, I love her so much. She is the sweetest, cutest, skinniest, sweetest, and slowest person you'll ever meet (Yes, I know I wrote sweetest twice). By slowest, I mean joke-wise. Melissa is definitely the quickest joke maker of our friendship. I'm the second quickest, and poor Emma is the third quickest. It's actually the funniest thing when she tries to be super quick, but fails. Anyways, Emma is also the easiest person to talk to, which is why I love her so much. When I'm having a rough day, all I have to do is walk by her and hear her sing my name and I feel ten times better. Plus for our volleyball senior night, Emma wrote me a speech and I could not stop crying necause it was so sweet. I'm not a big crier at all and I couldn't stop. I just love her so much! Not only do I love Melissa and Emma, but my family also can't get enough of them. My sister, Andi, is always telling me to invite them over when she's around. It's like she'd rather hang out with me and my friends than just me...... suspicious. Anyways, my favorite part about our friendship is the movie quotes we reenact. I can't tell you how many quotes we share daily. I'd say we quote the movies Baby Mama and Anchorman every day. There are also a lot of cartoon movies, but we won't get into that because the movies we watch might get embarrassing at times. I would write out each and every quote we say, but there is seriously not enough room. In each of their yearbooks last year, I took an entire page and I made a chart and a drawing for each of them. I don't mean to brag or anything, but they were kind of epic. I can't explain enough about how much I love these girls, but I think this blog got the highlights of our friendship!
