12-21-11 Jurassic Park is my Favorite Park!

If I could go back in time to any time period, I would obviously go back to the Mesozoic Era. In case no one recognizes this era, it is simply when dinosaurs roamed the earth. I think dinosaurs are so cool and interesting, so I would like to go back in time just to witness, first-hand, how they lived and survived for as long as they could. I've like dinosaurs for as long as I can remember. It all started with Barney. Barney is indeed a purple dinosaur. This lasted until I was at least four years old, and then I started watching the movie series, Jurassic Park. This is undoubtedly my favorite movie series of all time. I first saw Jurassic Park when I was maybe six years old. Unlike many six-year-olds of my time, I really enjoyed watching these intense dinosaur movies. My sister, Alli, didn't really like these movies, but my other sister, Andi, also enjoyed these films like I did. Anyways, these movies have helped me figure out what my favorite dinosaur is; Velociraptors. I don't know why I like them so much. Actually I do. It's because they're super fast, and they can pretty much get out of any situation. I believe they were more powerful than the T-Rex. Yeah, I said it! I understand that the T-Rex is very strong and I'm going to admit, he's pretty awesome, but the velociraptors are able to take down anything when they work together. Maybe that's why I like them so much, because of their teamwork...No...it's also because they're super intimidating. I mean, if you could stand in front of one of them, deal with their intense stare, and not start screaming, then you have no soul. I'm just saying, I've never done this, but it's got to be really scary. Despite all this jibber jabber, I think it'd be so cool to go back in time to the Mesozoic Era to hang with the dinosaurs.

12-13-11 Justin Patterson blog

How many people really know Justin Patterson? Well I got the chance to talk with him about different aspects of his life. Sure, everyone knows that Justin loves to play football for Alden High School, but the question here is why? Justin likes football because it's very fast paced and very fun to play and watch. He also enjoys the adrenaline rush he gets when he plays. Justin also plans on playing football in college. He's not sure what school he wants to attend, but he intends to go to a school for criminal justice. He eventually plans on becoming a State Trooper or Border Control in the future. There were many people that influenced him. He explained that his true hero is his father because he is able talk to him about most things. He also has many best friends that have been there for him throughout his life. These friends include Chase Huston, Eric Roth, Joe Foss, Ty, Cole, and Nate Berry. These are very important facts that many students are asked in their lives, but I decided to ask the questions people really want to know, like "If you could be an animal, what would you be?" or "What is your favorite color?" Justin's favorite color is blue by the way. To the animal question, Justin would want to be a hyena because they are really fast, crazy, and very "cute." Justin was also confronted with the "favorite subject" question. To this, he answered Social Studies 12 because he likes to know the current events that are going on all around the world. There are a lot of people that know Justin Patterson, which pretty much makes him a big deal. These random facts just show how friendly and interesting of a person Justin Patterson really is.

12-13-11 Chicken Wing Dip Deprived!

For this week's choice blog I would like to, as some in the office say, "bash" someone who has deceived the office members not once, but three times. Yes, I'm talking about Emily Cole who promised to bring in chicken wing dip and forgot three times in a row. How embarrassing. I wonder if she even has a soul. That was a little harsh, but everyone was thinking it. I'm kidding. Anyways, I just don't understand why she chooses to raise every one's hopes for chicken wing dip, then she just rips the hope in half, throws it to the ground, stomps on them, and spits on the remains. This is how I, personally, feel when she misleads the class. And this actually happened three times. I know, it's unbelievable. The first time, we were all naive to the fact that our hearts would soon shatter. When it actually did happen we were all pretty upset, but we were willing to give her a second chance. However, the moment we did, she turns around and completely blind sides us and "forgets" to bring in the chicken wing dip. Now the entire class is pretty irritated and saddened by the loss of another chance to have chicken wing dip. But she offers to bring chicken wing dip for a third time. Now, we originally said no because we couldn't take any more heartbreak, but then she began to beg and plead. I started to feel bad, so we gave her another chance to redeem herself. Unfortunately, she did not succeed in redeeming herself. She comes into class without chicken wing dip and claims that she texted me telling me she was unable to make the dip. So I check my phone to make sure, and I come across no texts from Emily Cole at all from the day before, or the morning of. This starts to anger me and then she continues to say that she texted me, when she definitely did not. So we decide to check her phone to see the record that she sent it and maybe the reason it didn't go through was because of phone problems. Then, conveniently, she says her phone is about to die. We checked the phone anyways and we come to find out that no messages were sent to me or anyone else in the news staff about the chicken wing dip. Wow Emily, wow. This was also a week before the Christmas, so she pretty much ruined Christmas for the office.
Keep in mind, this blog was a joke. Emily Cole, I'm totally kidding!!

12-7-11 The Coolest People I Know!

I would have to say that Kathleen Herter would be the number one coolest person I've met. We both love the T.V. show Glee and we both think about life if it was like Glee. For example, in the middle of lunch, people would break out in song. It would probably be the coolest lunch those kids have ever seen. She also just told me probably the funniest story ever about her day at Darien Lake. A person cut her and she started to trip on the back of their shoes and started falling. There were young children around so she quickly chose not to use inappropriate language. Instead, she used the phrase "Oh Chicago!" This was funnier when she told it in person I realize, but that's not the point. The next two coolest people I would have to say are Laura Slojkowski and Madeline Koelbl. We're getting t-shirts with the name "Madelaurber" which is all of our names put together. That's kind of awesome. We are also in each other's classes every day and we have the best conversations. Another super cool person I know is Tara Hammershmidt. We just went to warm up some taco dip for the best class ever, Online Publishing, and we had the best time. We started out by microwaving the taco dip for 5 minutes, and then we decided to sit on the couch in the teachers' lounge and turn on the television. A football game was being replayed and discussed, so Tara and I began stating the differences of the commentators. We also got shocked about thirty times in a matter of ten minutes. It was pretty rough, but completely worth it! Well, that is just a brief list of some of the coolest people I know. There is a lot more people, but this would be a 2000 word blog if I did!

12-1-11 The Class of Physcal Education!

My Physical Education class is probably the most awesome group of people in the entire school. I say this because it is stacked with the most athletic and industrious group of kids in this school. There are a few people that don't try that hard, but they or forget their clothes so they don't even participate. My class is full kids who are very good in the sport they play for school or out of school, and are also really good at every sport we play in P.E. These types of students are called "15 out of 15's" according to Mr. Helmicki. I've also heard Mr. Helmicki talk about our class and how great the students are and how it's probably the best class he's had so far in his teaching career. That's, dare I say, a pretty big deal. So my class has been playing volleyball for the past couple of days and it has been so much fun because my class, being as athletic as it is, actually plays to the actual rules of volleyball. Usually if one player hits the net, the teacher wouldn't say anything, but the rules actually do matter in my class. I love it because then, people who think they're so awesome at volleyball in p.e. get taken down a few notches and realize that there are legitimate rules that everyone has to follow. I think its a lot harder to break rules that you know rather than break the rules you don't know. For example, I think it's super hard to break the rules when I personally play volleyball because I've been playing since I was in fifth grade and I was brought up with my entire family being big in volleyball and I've been following these rules for a good portion of my life. However, when there's someone who wants to show off and act cool, they disregard whatever the teacher says are the rules and they just hit the ball willy nilly and they don't share the ball with anyone else on the team. Thankfully that never happens in my Physical education class because of the awesome players in there. There's also two actual volleyball players in my class. One being myself, and Sarah "Cougzie" Mye (yes, I came up with that name! I'm very proud of myself). It's funny because we're both setters when we played on the school team and now we get the chance to do things like hit and play defense. We did play these positions on the team, but we get to play these positions more often in p.e. class. Anyways, the point I'm trying to make is that my Physical Education class this year is definitely the best active class he's had in years. I feel very honored to be in that class and I can't wait to continue to crush a lot in every sport!
